Strengthening education in the field of technical medicine for personalized 3D-printed breast prostheses at higher education institutions in the Western Balkans is the central objective of the TechMed3D project, which through international cooperation and the integration of academia, research, and industry lays the foundation for modern, sustainable, and practice-oriented medical-technological solutions in the region.
The TechMed3D project connects technology and healthcare by introducing a Technical Medicine study program in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania. It focuses on modern areas such as data-driven decision-making, image-guided interventions, and 3D modeling in medicine, while developing personalized 3D-printed breast prostheses to improve post-mastectomy care. The project includes curriculum development, staff training, and industry collaboration, strengthening the link between education, research, and healthcare practice.
The establishment of the TechMed3D Cluster will foster cooperation between universities and companies and enhance the employability of young professionals. Aligned with European priorities such as the Green Deal and the Global Gateway Strategy, the project contributes to sustainable innovation and the clinical adoption of personalized medical solutions in the region.
