On November 4, 2021, the School of Medicine in Split, the Student Entrepreneurship Incubator (SPI), and the NetHub Business Accelerator for Healthcare Technology Development held the event “From Students to Entrepreneurs – How to Build a Successful Career in HealthTech” at the School of Medicine premises in Split.

The primary goal of the event was to introduce students and experts in the fields of entrepreneurship, innovation, and healthcare to the development of healthcare technologies and the vast opportunities offered by HealthTech entrepreneurship.
At the beginning of the event, Professor Katarina Vukojević, PhD, Vice-Dean for Science, Postgraduate Studies, and International Cooperation, welcomed the participants on behalf of the School of Medicine. After presenting the project “Development, Improvement, and Implementation of Professional Practice at the School of Medicine in Split,” NetHub representative Marko Mimica explained the scope of HealthTech and highlighted the specific importance of startup development within this sector.
Following this, Zvonimir Jukić, project coordinator of the Student Entrepreneurship Incubator, introduced the audience to the projects and activities conducted by the Incubator, particularly the benefits of its technically equipped co-working space for developing student innovations. The event also featured Ena Melvan, winner of the second generation of the ICT County’s StartIT Academy and a recipient of the prestigious “For Women in Science” national scholarship. She introduced participants to her startup, Metabelly, and explained basic startup terminology, development phases, and the tools and methodologies used to create and validate innovative ideas. This young entrepreneur also shared her experience participating in the “Get in the Ring” competition, where she won second place and a prize of 70,000 HRK.
The event was closed by Professor Katarina Vukojević, who thanked everyone for attending and contributing to the encouragement of young people entering the world of entrepreneurship. She expressed her hope that initiatives like this would inspire students to recognize the immense potential of HealthTech and pursue creative and rewarding careers in a sector that represents both the present and the future.
